Cardiovascular:

Our cardiovascular equipment starts with full back supported recumbent cycles where your heart rate is increased gradually to achieve a safe warm up level. Your programme will allow your heart rate to fluctuate between the fat burning and cardiovascular training zones as you move around the gym mixing resistance exercises with cardio will give your training a boost, creating an interval style workout.

Our Elliptical cross-trainers offer a non-impact full body workout, especially smooth on the joints. Our treadmills also help you achieve a good cardiovascular training effect by power walking your way to fitness!

Cardiovascular exercise increases heart and lung efficiency, burns more calories during exercise and increases your metabolic rate. This allows the body to burn more calories when resting. So not only do you burn more calories during your workout you will burn more in everyday life. It is very achievable to lose unwanted body fat at a rate of 1-2 pounds a week. Regular sessions of just 20 minutes or more of cardiovascular exercise have been shown to dramatically reduce your risk of heart attacks, stroke and thrombosis.

Resistance Machines:

By using resistance machines that target specific muscle groups eg. Chest, back, backs of the arms, thighs, inner/outer thighs, hips, bum, stomach etc. Increases your lean muscle tissue and decreases your body fat percentage, helping to reduce cellulite. This is the best way to tone and shape your body creating slimmer hips, toned bums, flatter stomachs and lifted busts. This will help improve your self- esteem and confidence.

By increasing your lean muscle tissue your body needs more energy at rest therefore increasing your metabolism. Resistance training also improves bone density helping to prevent osteoporosis, which is more common in females.

Free Weights:

Free weights are incorporated into your programme, not always initially; this is gauged on your present fitness level.

You will be able to rectify any muscle imbalances that are not always seen until muscles have to work independently, these occur in everyday life as we carry heavy bags commonly on one shoulder or do a repetitive job, carrying a small child on one hip for example, as in a nursery job, these can be rectified with exercises that help balance the muscle strength.

Free Body Exercises:

Everybody will have their own individual needs. The gym has a soft area where free body exercises are carried out, initially shown to you in your induction when your tailored programme is prescribed by one of our fitness instructors to target specific areas. For example hips, bums and tums. This allows for variety in your workout and prevents you from becoming bored.

Mobility & Flexibility:

As we age our suppleness decreases, we incorporate some gentle mobility exercise at the beginning of your programme to help free up the major joints that you will use in your session, this allows the fluids surrounding these important shock absorbing joints to do their job safely.

Poor posture can cause all sorts of problems backaches, neck ache, and headaches to name but a few. The final part of any fitness programme is the cool down stretches designed to stretch the warm muscles to gently realign the muscles after the workout to maintain and improve your flexibility. Allowing you to freely move, bend, stretch and reach in your everyday life.
